Espalier Demonstrations
Saturday, May 15, 2010, 10am
Learn how to care for fruit trees, build simple and effective trellises, and train trees into different shapes. We will discuss the difference between winter and summer pruning, when to fertilize and spray and with what, and how to select the right variety for the espalier shape you want. Participants in the class will help to build a trellis, train a Belgian fence, and prune and train shapes such as fan, palmette verrier and candelabra, so remember to bring your pruning shears. Cost: $35 per participant.
Location: Historic Garden Valley Ranch in Petaluma (498 Pepper Road, Petaluma, CA), where an extensive list of Apple Art’s espaliered fruit trees are now available for purchase and pick-up.
Download a flyer here, or register online at the Garden Valley Ranch website here (www.gardenvalley.com/classes/).
